AUP Detection and Moderation Controls

How Sovrin identifies, reviews, and enforces age, content, conduct, fraud, and safety rules.

Effective 17 July 2026

These controls support the Acceptable Use Policy at https://sovrin.co/acceptable-use. Automated systems assist detection but do not replace user reports or trained human review. Anyone in immediate danger should contact local emergency services.

Key points

  • Dating features are gated behind a server-validated date of birth confirming the member is at least 18.
  • Uploaded profile, cover, and gallery images are queued for automated SafeSearch review; likely adult, violent, or racy content is rejected and uncertain results go to staff review.
  • Members can report profiles, photos, and individual messages, flag spam, and block another member.
  • Authorized staff have report and moderation queues and can remove content, reject photos, block accounts, and revoke access tokens.
  • Production moderation fails to human review rather than approval if automated image analysis is unavailable.

1. Age and eligibility controls

Sovrin is restricted to adults aged 18 or older. The public Terms and Acceptable Use Policy disclose this rule, and account registration requires express acceptance of those terms.

Before dating discovery, messaging, gallery, or other onboarding-gated features unlock, the member must submit a date of birth. The server rejects dates showing an age under 18, implausible ages over 110, or a missing adult attestation. The date of birth is the source of truth and the displayed age is derived from it.

Members can report a profile using the structured underage reason. Reports are retained for staff review, and reporting a profile immediately blocks that profile from the reporter.

2. Automated image detection

Profile photos, profile covers, and gallery uploads enter the moderation workflow with a pending status and are sent through a dedicated moderation queue. Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch evaluates adult, racy, and violent content.

  • LIKELY or VERY_LIKELY adult, racy, or violent content is automatically rejected and removed from active content.
  • POSSIBLE adult, racy, or violent content is flagged for authorized human review.
  • Profile-photo analysis also requires a detectable face; face-less placeholders, logos, scenery, and similar non-profile images are rejected.
  • If the production vision service is unavailable or misconfigured, the item is flagged for human review rather than automatically approved.

3. Member reporting and blocking

Members can report profiles, photos, and individual chat messages from authenticated product surfaces. Profile reports use server-validated reasons including fake profile, catfishing, scam, harassment, inappropriate photos, underage, and other. Photo and message reports preserve the reported item and account identifiers; message reports also retain the reason, timestamp, IP address, and user-agent context.

Members can separately flag chats as spam and block accounts. Profile reporting automatically creates a block so the reporter no longer encounters the reported account in normal discovery. Discovery queries exclude accounts blocked in either direction.

4. Staff review and investigation

Authorized staff use access-controlled web and manager interfaces. Queues surface pending and flagged gallery, profile, and cover images. Separate report views surface profile and photo abuse reports, and account review exposes reports received and relevant recent content.

Staff can review the reported context, approve or reject queued media, remove gallery items, profile or cover photos, comments, and messages, and record moderation timestamps and status. Reports remain stored until resolved or retained under the applicable safety and legal retention rules.

5. Enforcement controls

Depending on severity and history, Sovrin may remove content, restrict distribution, warn the member, block the account, revoke active API tokens, prevent new web or API login, preserve evidence, and escalate serious conduct to providers or authorities where required or reasonably necessary.

Blocked accounts are denied new password-login sessions. Existing authenticated web sessions are ejected, and active personal access tokens are revoked. Attempts to use a blocked account receive an unavailable-account response.

6. Detection scope and escalation

Automated image detection is complemented by member reporting because harassment, coercion, trafficking indicators, fraud, off-platform solicitation, and contextual message violations cannot be reliably determined by image classification alone. Private text is not represented as being comprehensively pre-screened before delivery; reported messages can be reviewed and removed by authorized staff.

Potential child sexual exploitation, credible threats, trafficking, sexual violence, non-consensual intimate material, or other serious illegality may trigger evidence preservation, urgent restriction, and reporting to appropriate child-safety bodies, emergency services, law enforcement, payment providers, or app stores as permitted or required by law.
