Registration and Profile Verification Controls
How Sovrin prevents incomplete, underage, deceptive, and unsafe profiles from entering dating features.
Effective 17 July 2026
Key points
- Registration requires an account, express Terms/AUP acceptance, and configured email/password or identity-provider authentication.
- Dating features remain locked until mandatory server-validated onboarding is complete.
- Date of birth must confirm age 18+; implausible ages over 110 and missing adult attestations are rejected.
- A profile photo and required gallery media must exist before onboarding can complete; uploaded media enters moderation and profile photos require a detectable face.
- Members and staff can identify, investigate, block, and remove impersonation, fake, catfishing, scam, stolen-media, or underage accounts.
1. Account creation and policy acceptance
A registrant creates an account through email/password or a configured Google or Apple identity-provider path. Email/API registration requires express acceptance of the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. Authentication proves control of the chosen credential or provider account; it is not represented as proof of civil identity.
2. Mandatory onboarding gate
Discovery, messaging, gallery, and other dating surfaces are protected by the onboarding-complete gate. The server requires a full name, gender selection, dating intent, profile statement, relationship and interest selections, date of birth, adult attestation, profile photo, and the configured minimum number of gallery photos before recording completion.
Client-side completion alone is insufficient: the server revalidates the fields and confirms that required media records actually exist.
3. Age controls
The date of birth is the source of truth. The server rejects a birth date that does not establish an age of at least 18, rejects implausible ages over 110, requires an affirmative 18+ attestation, and derives the displayed/legacy age value from the accepted birth date.
Members can report a profile as underage or for child-safety concerns. The report enters staff review and also blocks the reported profile from the reporter.
4. Profile-photo and media controls
Profile, cover, and gallery uploads enter a moderation workflow. Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch evaluates adult, racy, and violent content. Likely or very-likely violations are rejected; possible results enter human review; and an unavailable production classifier results in review rather than automatic approval.
Profile-photo analysis also requires a detectable face. Logos, scenery, letter avatars, and similar face-less images are rejected. Face detection does not establish the person’s legal identity and is not described as biometric identity verification.
5. Impersonation and fraud reports
In-product profile reports include impersonation, fake profile, catfishing, scam, stolen or inappropriate media, underage status, trafficking, sexual exploitation, illegal activity, non-consensual content, harassment, and child-exploitation concerns. Reports accept supporting details and are confidential.
Authorized staff can compare profile data, media, account and login history, report patterns, and identity or rights-holder evidence voluntarily supplied through support. Staff may reject or remove media, block the account, revoke tokens, terminate sessions, preserve relevant evidence, and restrict re-registration attempts.
6. Accuracy and limitations
No automated check guarantees that every member is who they claim to be. Sovrin avoids unsupported verification badges and combines prevention, member reports, staff investigation, enforcement, and appeals. Members should use in-product video, reporting, blocking, and safe-meeting practices and should never send money or sensitive financial credentials to another member.
7. Contact and related controls
Report a profile through the in-product control or contact support@sovrin.co. The AUP is at https://sovrin.co/acceptable-use; moderation controls are at https://sovrin.co/moderation-controls; and prohibited-activity protocols are at https://sovrin.co/prohibited-activity-protocols.
